  • JMU Students Engaging Refugee Families in Our Community with C.A.R.E. (Creativity And Reading Education)

  • 6-credit immersion experience

  • JMU students facilitating a 2-week summer enrichment program for refugee children

Why:
  • This opportunity serves as a model for building capacity within the Early, Elementary, and Reading Department to offer extended immersion experiences with diverse learners for our teacher education students. 

 

  • JMU students can get an internationalized experience at home which is more practical and affordable yet can still be a hugely impactful and transformative experience.

 

  • This program opens students’ eyes to global events and humanizes people they often overlook in their daily lives.

How:
  • Enroll into ELED 510 Creativity and the Arts in Elementary & Elective 501 Teaching Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students on May 1, 2018
