PROGRAM
Welcome to the C.A.R.E Program
Each year, Harrisonburg welcomes 200 men, women, and children who have fled their countries as refugees.
Creativity And Reading Education program provides a summer enrichment program that integrates the creative arts, English, reading, and literacy development by utilizing community-based field trips for real-world connections and applications.
Our Purpose

Prepare JMU education students to serve culturally and linguistically diverse students.

Develop strong partnerships between JMU and the local community.

Become a model for supporting refugee children transitioning to US schools.
